ISO 42001 is the first international standard for Artificial Intelligence Management Systems (AIMS). It was developed by the ISO community at the request of the European Union to help organizations govern their AI systems responsibly.
It's modeled after other ISO standards, such as ISO 27001 (for security), ISO 27701 (for privacy), and ISO 9001 (for quality). Xano is one of the first low-code/no-code development platforms to pursue this certification, demonstrating leadership in the responsible, ethical, and well-governed adoption of AI.
This certification is especially valuable for enterprise-grade organizations, particularly those that prioritize compliance, governance, and risk mitigation.
It helps companies align with evolving regulations, such as the EU AI Act, and demonstrates that Xano’s AI tools are responsibly governed. For large teams and regulated industries, having an auditable, standards-based AI framework builds trust and reduces operational risk.
Xano integrates AI assistants using Google’s Gemini model. While Xano doesn’t have access to the internal workings of the LLM itself, the team conducts rigorous testing of inputs and outputs.
Weekly automated dashboards simulate prompt injections and run security checks to make sure the AI stays within its guardrails. For example, prompts that attempt to extract sensitive SQL or unauthorized data will trigger a refusal response from the assistant.
Each assistant undergoes foundational testing, security testing, validation/verification, and ongoing monitoring. This process ensures Xano’s AI tools are safe, reliable, and compliant, even as new risks emerge.
